1.0 Class Overview & Design Lineage
The Meridian class — a flagship-scale deep-space explorer that folds the entire lineage of Federation starship development forward into a single design.
The Meridian-class explorer is the Advanced Starship Design Bureau's proposal for the next Federation flagship. It is conceived not as a clean-sheet vessel but as the deliberate next rung on a ladder that the technical record lays out plainly: the Constitution proved the multi-mission cruiser; the Excelsior gambled on transwarp and won a generation of speed; the Galaxy made the mobile starbase real; the Sovereign hardened that concept for a more dangerous galaxy; and the Intrepid proved that small, fast and computationally clever could outperform sheer mass. The Meridian's thesis is to make the Intrepid's ideas work at flagship scale.

Design philosophy
Six signature systems define the class, each one a documented technology carried forward and matured: variable-geometry warp nacelles scaled to capital size; a self-healing bio-neural computer core; a detachable modular mission spine; multi-vector saucer separation; a regenerative trititanium-laced hull paired with regenerative shielding; and a main deflector that doubles as a high-energy emitter. The sections that follow trace each system to its source in the library and describe how the Meridian advances it.
