1.5 Science & Mission Systems
A deep multidisciplinary sensor and laboratory suite, dedicated astrometrics, and a detachable modular mission spine that reconfigures the ship for its task.
The Meridian's reason for being is exploration, and its science fit reflects that. Long-range and lateral sensor arrays sweep the full spectrum from gravimetric to subspace; a dedicated astrometrics and stellar-cartography facility builds real-time three-dimensional charts of unexplored space; and dozens of reconfigurable laboratories support every discipline from exobiology to high-energy physics.
Modular mission spine
Running along the dorsal secondary hull is a detachable mission spine: a standardised structural and EPS interface into which mission modules are fitted — a deep-survey sensor pallet, an expanded medical and humanitarian module, a diplomatic-conference suite, or a tactical-command module. The principle is a direct descendant of the modular-component construction that defined the Class I era, and it lets one spaceframe be re-roled in dock in days rather than rebuilt over months.
Transport & tractor systems
Multiple personnel and cargo transporters, long-range emergency transport, and a high-capacity tractor/repulsor system support survey, rescue and engineering operations.
