3.2 Propulsion & Combat Power
A high-output twin-chamber warp core feeding three variable-geometry nacelles, with a dedicated tactical power shunt to weapons and shields.
The Vanguard's defining engineering feature is its three-nacelle warp drive — the direct descendant of the Dreadnought program, which first put a third nacelle on a Federation cruiser for the raw power a warship needs. A high-output, twin-chamber matter/antimatter core feeds all three variable-geometry nacelles, giving the Vanguard the surplus power to run a full weapons and shield load at high warp without starving propulsion.
Tactical power shunt
A dedicated tactical power shunt lets engineering divert core output straight to the phaser banks and shield grid in combat, bypassing the normal distribution priorities. It is what lets a ship this heavy still hit hard and hold its shields under sustained fire.
Sublight
Multiple fusion impulse reactors provide the thrust to maneuver a 3.6-million-tonne hull with surprising agility, with vectored exhaust retained on both the command and battle sections.
