2.2 Propulsion & Quantum Slipstream

A matter/antimatter core feeding native variable-geometry nacelles, plus an experimental quantum-slipstream burst drive for crossing reconnaissance distances fast.

Main power is a matter/antimatter reaction assembly feeding the electro-plasma system and out to the warp nacelles, on the same energy-moderated dilithium principle used across the fleet. The Pathfinder inherits the Intrepid's variable-geometry nacelles natively — they raise before high-warp flight to shape the field and protect subspace — giving it a very high sustainable cruise for a ship its size.

Quantum-slipstream burst drive

The Pathfinder carries an experimental quantum-slipstream burst drive: a benamite-fuelled quantum field projector that opens a short-lived slipstream conduit, letting the ship leap reconnaissance distances in a fraction of normal warp time. It is the spiritual descendant of the Excelsior "Great Experiment" and the Linear Warp program — speed as a strategic capability — and like them it is flight-restricted pending trials and limited by benamite supply.

Sublight

Fusion impulse engines provide agile sublight maneuvering, with atmospheric thrusters for controlled flight and landing.
