This introductory note states the manual aims to give a thorough understanding of the basic principles and techniques of space navigation while noting that further, more advanced study is required to qualify as a navigator.
This brief introduction states that the manual is an introductory text intended to give the reader a thorough grounding in the basic principles and techniques of navigation in space. On its own it will not qualify someone as a navigator, since a large body of more sophisticated material beyond the scope of this work must also be mastered.
